A sleep visit covers your sleep schedule, what wakes you, snoring or pauses in breathing a partner has noticed, daytime alertness, medications and mood. That points toward next steps, from changes you can make at home to formal testing.
Suspected narcolepsy, significant sleep-disordered breathing and other complex sleep disorders may need a formal sleep study and evaluation by a sleep-medicine specialist. We stay involved as your Primary Care Provider throughout.
Examples, not a complete list. If you do not see your concern, ask us.

Insomnia involves difficulty sleeping despite an adequate opportunity to do so. Work schedules, caregiving and habits may also limit sleep, and the approach differs.
Loud snoring, witnessed pauses in breathing, gasping, morning headaches and daytime sleepiness can suggest obstructive sleep apnea. A clinical evaluation and appropriate sleep testing are used to confirm the diagnosis; symptoms alone are not enough.
No. Home testing suits certain patients, while others need laboratory-based testing depending on medical conditions, symptoms and suspected sleep disorder.

CBT-I is a structured, evidence-based treatment that addresses habits and thoughts that keep insomnia going. It is commonly recommended as a first-line treatment for chronic insomnia.
Yes. An urge to move the legs, often worse at night, may disrupt sleep. We can review symptoms, medications and whether testing or referral is indicated.
Shift work can disrupt the body's sleep-wake rhythm. We can discuss consistent sleep windows, light exposure and other strategies suited to your schedule.
Some medicines and substances affect sleep quality, breathing or daytime alertness. We can review potential contributors and safer alternatives when appropriate.
We can discuss symptoms and adherence and help coordinate needed follow-up, although equipment adjustments and specialist management may require your sleep clinic or equipment provider.
Do not drive or operate hazardous equipment if you may fall asleep. Severe or sudden symptoms, especially with other concerning signs, need prompt medical assessment.
Services, screening recommendations, testing, treatment options, referrals and prescribing may vary with your age, medical history, symptoms, where you are physically located at the time of the visit, state and federal requirements, insurance requirements, and whether your condition can be safely managed by telehealth. Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.
