Visit details

Visits cover chronic conditions, changes in memory, mood, sleep or mobility, and the practical side of staying independent. Caregivers can join with the patient’s permission.

After a hospital stay or ER visit, a follow-up visit reviews what changed, reconciles medications and plans next steps.

Patient Questions

Questions about geriatric care.

All Patient Questions
Why is a complete medication list particularly important for older adults?

Multiple prescriptions, supplements and over-the-counter medicines can interact or increase side effects. A comprehensive review helps identify potential concerns.

Can dizziness or falls be discussed during a virtual visit?

Yes. We review the circumstances, medications and possible contributors. Injury, fainting or sudden neurological symptoms may require urgent in-person assessment.

How can home blood pressure readings help an older patient?

A series of readings, including symptoms such as dizziness, may help assess treatment safety. Some patients also need measurements taken while standing.

What should a caregiver prepare for an older adult's visit?

With the patient's permission, a caregiver can provide medication lists, recent readings, records and observations about changes in day-to-day function.

Can poor appetite or unintentional weight loss be evaluated by video?

An initial evaluation is possible, but unexplained weight loss can signal a serious condition and may require laboratory tests, examination or specialist care.

Are sudden memory changes the same as dementia?

No. Sudden confusion can be caused by acute illness, medication effects or other urgent problems. An abrupt change requires prompt medical attention.

Can you discuss safe living arrangements and home support?

Yes. We can review mobility, falls, medication management and caregiving needs and discuss referrals or local resources when appropriate.

What happens after an older adult leaves the hospital?

A follow-up may include reconciling discharge medications, reviewing instructions and coordinating any needed tests, supplies or specialist visits.

Can hearing or vision issues affect a telehealth visit?

Yes. We can plan for better lighting, accessible communication and caregiver assistance when authorized. New severe changes require an in-person evaluation.

When should an older adult bypass telehealth and seek emergency help?

Chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe breathing difficulty, sudden confusion or major injury require emergency care rather than a routine appointment.

Good to know

Services, screening recommendations, testing, treatment options, referrals and prescribing may vary with your age, medical history, symptoms, where you are physically located at the time of the visit, state and federal requirements, insurance requirements, and whether your condition can be safely managed by telehealth. Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.
