There is no single deadline for appetite changes on semaglutide. Some people notice changes early, while others need more time or a different treatment plan. A quiet first week does not by itself show whether treatment will help.
What Is Actually Happening in Your Body
Semaglutide activates GLP-1 receptors and can affect appetite and food intake. Products have different approved uses, formulations and instructions. Follow the instructions for the specific medicine prescribed rather than assuming every semaglutide product is a weekly injection.
What to Discuss During Early Treatment
The following describes possible experiences, not a promised timeline. Dose increases depend on the product, tolerability and your prescriber’s plan.
The first week
Starting doses are intended to introduce treatment gradually. You may notice an appetite change, a side effect, both or neither. Do not increase a dose on your own because you still feel hungry.
Weeks two through four
Early response varies. Record changes in appetite, eating patterns and symptoms so your prescriber can review them with you. Persistent vomiting, dehydration or severe abdominal pain need prompt medical attention.
The dose increase phase
Injectable Wegovy is usually increased in stages over several months. Other formulations have their own schedules. Tolerability can affect the plan, so the prescriber may adjust the pace.
Around eight to twelve weeks
Many people are still increasing treatment at this stage. It is not a universal maintenance-dose window or a reliable point at which appetite suppression or weight loss peaks.
On the Question of Weight Loss Itself
Appetite and body weight are different measures. Weight change is assessed over time alongside nutrition, activity, side effects and health goals. There is no guaranteed amount of loss or fixed month when everyone reaches a peak.
If You Are Using Compounded Semaglutide
Compounded semaglutide products are not FDA-approved. FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before marketing, so equivalent ingredients, dosing or outcomes should not be assumed.
FDA has also warned about dosing errors and about semaglutide salt forms that differ from the active ingredient in approved medicines. Discuss the exact product and instructions with the prescriber and pharmacist; do not convert doses or concentrations by guesswork.
The Question Underneath the Question
A useful question is whether the current plan is appropriate and tolerable for you. Hunger alone does not determine the right dose, and side effects do not prove that a medicine is working.
Some Honest Notes on Pace
Your clinician considers the prescribed formulation, dose, consistency of use, other medicines and side effects. Arrange follow-up at the recommended interval and contact the practice sooner for concerns.
Reviewing Progress With Your Prescriber
Weight management is a long-term process. Treatment response varies, and weight can return after medication is stopped. Review your goals and options with the prescriber rather than relying on a universal timeline.

Answers connected to this topic.
How do GLP-1 weight-loss medications work?
GLP-1 medications act on pathways involved in appetite regulation, fullness, and blood sugar control. Certain medications can help reduce hunger and food intake, making it easier for eligible patients to follow a sustainable nutrition plan. These treatments work best when combined with healthy lifestyle changes.
How long does it take to see weight-loss results?
Some patients notice changes in appetite or weight within the first several weeks, while others require more time. Progress depends on the treatment selected and individual response. Follow-up appointments allow us to review your progress and make adjustments when medically appropriate.
What if I feel hungry despite following a treatment plan?
Hunger is useful information. We can review meal patterns, nutrition, sleep, medications and other factors before considering adjustments.
