No. Wade’s Care First is a telehealth practice. Where will I go for blood work if I live in Tallahassee?

Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp both operate patient service centers in Tallahassee; TMH and HCA Florida Capital Hospital have outpatient labs, and Bond Community Health Center and Neighborhood Medical Center serve their own patients. We send the order electronically to a location that is convenient for you or in your insurance network. Results come back to us for review with you.

Good to know

Services, screening recommendations, testing, treatment options, referrals and prescribing may vary with your age, medical history, symptoms, where you are physically located at the time of the visit, state and federal requirements, insurance requirements, and whether your condition can be safely managed by telehealth. Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.

Getting care in Tallahassee

State capital and university city (Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee State College) with a very young median age of 28.5, serving as the medical hub for a largely rural Big Bend region.

Tallahassee is the medical center for a wide rural region, which means its clinics are busy and its hospitals, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and HCA Florida Capital Hospital, draw patients from 22 counties. If you live in town or in the surrounding Big Bend, a video visit with Charles Wade, FNP-BC, covers primary care, mental health, ADHD, weight management, sleep, skin concerns and minor urgent needs without a drive to Miccosukee Road or Capital Circle. Students at FSU, FAMU and TCC who are far from a home doctor can get continuity for anxiety, ADHD and chronic conditions. Labs, imaging and prescriptions are sent to Tallahassee locations you choose.

Access in Leon County

Florida’s uninsured rate for people under 65 was 13.6% in 2024 versus 9.8% nationally (KFF, ACS 1-year); all-ages uninsured was 10.9%, ranking 45th among states (America’s Health Rankings, ACS 2024). As of January 1, 2026, Florida had 320 primary care HPSAs and 239 mental health HPSAs, and would need 1,434 more primary care practitioners and 545 more mental health practitioners to eliminate them (Florida Senate analysis of SB 1480, 2026).

Hurricane season continuity: during qualifying emergencies, ask your pharmacist and insurer about early refills under Florida law; authorized refills and other coverage requirements still apply. Leon County itself is relatively provider-rich, but TMH describes a 22-county service region, meaning many patients travel long distances from rural counties for specialty care.

Who this helps most in Tallahassee

This helps Tallahassee students and young workers who need fast, consistent mental health, ADHD and primary care, state employees who cannot leave work for appointments, and rural Big Bend residents who otherwise drive into town for routine follow-up. Older adults managing blood pressure, diabetes or sleep issues can use it for medication review between in-person visits. Go in person for physical exams, injuries, wound care or same-hour imaging. Call 911 or go to TMH’s Bixler Emergency Center, Emergency Center-Northeast or an HCA Florida Capital ER for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe breathing problems, serious injuries or any crisis involving risk of self-harm.

Local health considerations

  • Median age 28.5 (ACS 2024) reflects a large student population with high need for mental health, ADHD, contraception and acute-illness care, often far from family physicians.
  • Regional hub: TMH serves 22 counties across North Florida and South Georgia, so rural Big Bend residents often drive an hour or more for specialty follow-up that telehealth can partly replace.
  • Hurricane exposure: Hurricane Michael (2018) caused near-total power loss across a large part of the Panhandle, some lasting weeks; F.S. 252.358 allows at least a 30-day early prescription refill when Leon is under a hurricane warning or emergency.
