Orders go local

Labs, imaging and pharmacies near Orlando.

Blood work orders go to the lab you choose. Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp operate patient service centers across Orlando, and both accept electronic orders ahead of your draw. Orlando Health and AdventHealth outpatient labs can also run outside orders. For imaging, Akumin has outpatient centers at Baldwin Park and Kirkman Road in Orlando and in Kissimmee, Deltona and Mount Dora, so an X-ray, ultrasound, CT or MRI rarely requires a hospital trip.

Prescriptions go electronically to any Publix, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart or Winn-Dixie pharmacy. If cost is the issue, Orange Blossom Family Health offers sliding-fee care and $4 prescriptions at its pharmacy, and Community Health Centers, Inc. has sites across Orange County with on-site lab and X-ray.

Orange Blossom Family Health (FQHC; 232 N Orange Blossom Trail, Ivey Lane, Evans Wellness Center, Orange Blossom Pediatrics; $4 pharmacy prescriptions), Community Health Centers, Inc. (FQHC since 1972; Orange County sites in Apopka, Bithlo, Forest City, Lake Ellenor, Meadow Woods, Pine Hills, West Lakes, Winter Garden) and Health Care Center for the Homeless, Inc serve the area with in-person primary care on a sliding scale. Many patients pair that kind of local clinic with telehealth for follow-ups, medication management and specialist coordination.

Florida Medicaid plans are not on the participating list right now. Plans accepted in Florida: BCBS / Anthem PPO, UnitedHealthcare PPO, UMR (PPO), Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, Humana PPO, Ambetter PPO, Florida Blue, TRICARE. Benefits are verified before your visit, and self-pay pricing is posted if your plan is not accepted.

Can orders be sent to a laboratory or imaging facility near me?

When clinically appropriate, we can send orders to a laboratory or imaging facility you choose. Confirm that the location performs the requested test, accepts the order and participates in your insurance network. Availability and travel distance vary by community.

Good to know

Services, screening recommendations, testing, treatment options, referrals and prescribing may vary with your age, medical history, symptoms, where you are physically located at the time of the visit, state and federal requirements, insurance requirements, and whether your condition can be safely managed by telehealth. Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.

Getting care in Orlando

Central Florida’s tourism and service-economy hub with a young population (median age 35.1) and two very large competing hospital systems.

If you live in Orlando or the surrounding Orange County suburbs, a video visit covers primary care, mental health, ADHD, weight management, sleep, skin issues and minor urgent needs without a trip down I-4. Charles Wade, FNP-BC, sees you by video and sends labs, imaging and prescriptions to sites near you, from Pine Hills to Lake Nona. Orlando has two large systems, Orlando Health, whose ORMC campus is a Level I trauma center, and AdventHealth Orlando, plus many freestanding ERs; those are for emergencies and procedures. Telehealth is for the ongoing work: refills, lab review, new symptoms you can describe, and follow-up that keeps chronic conditions from drifting between visits.

Access in Orange County

Florida’s uninsured rate for people under 65 was 13.6% in 2024 versus 9.8% nationally (KFF, ACS 1-year); all-ages uninsured was 10.9%, ranking 45th among states (America’s Health Rankings, ACS 2024). As of January 1, 2026, Florida had 320 primary care HPSAs and 239 mental health HPSAs, and would need 1,434 more primary care practitioners and 545 more mental health practitioners to eliminate them (Florida Senate analysis of SB 1480, 2026). Hurricane season continuity: during qualifying emergencies, ask your pharmacist and insurer about early refills under Florida law; authorized refills and other coverage requirements still apply.

Who this helps most in Orlando

This helps Orlando’s hospitality, theme-park and service workers whose shifts make daytime appointments difficult, along with students and young families who need reliable care for anxiety, depression, ADHD, asthma follow-up, weight or sleep. It also suits older adults in Winter Park, Dr. Phillips or East Orlando who want medication review without a drive. Use an in-person clinic or urgent care for physical exams, injuries, stitches or same-hour imaging. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department, such as Orlando Health ORMC or AdventHealth Orlando, for chest pain, stroke symptoms, trouble breathing, severe allergic reactions, high fever in a young child or any situation involving risk of self-harm.

Local health considerations

  • Orlando’s median age is 35.1 (ACS 2024), with many hospitality and service workers on shift schedules that make daytime office visits hard; evening-friendly telehealth and FQHC extended hours help.
  • Heat: NWS lists young children, older adults, pregnant women and people with chronic conditions or on certain medications as highest risk during Central Florida’s long hot season.
  • Hurricane season: ask your pharmacist and insurer about early refills under F.S. 252.358 during a qualifying emergency. Authorized refills and other coverage requirements still apply; plan ahead when possible.
