Orders go local

Labs, imaging and pharmacies near Miami.

For blood work, Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp operate patient service centers throughout Miami-Dade; your order is sent electronically and you pick the site. If you are already a patient at Jackson, Baptist Health or UHealth, their outpatient labs can also run outside orders. Community Health of South Florida lists on-site lab and imaging services at its centers for people using sliding-fee care. Outpatient imaging is available at Akumin centers in Miami Beach and Aventura and at the major hospital systems. Prescriptions go to the Publix, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Winn-Dixie or independent pharmacy you choose; ask about 90-day supplies before hurricane season so you are not caught short.

All Patient Questions
Does Wade’s Care First have an office in Miami?

No. Wade’s Care First is a telehealth practice. You join your visit by secure video from home, work or anywhere in Florida, and Charles Wade, FNP-BC is licensed to treat you while you are in the state. Anything that needs hands-on care is coordinated with facilities in and around Miami, such as Jackson Memorial Hospital (Jackson Health System; busiest ED in Miami-Dade, comprehensive stroke center; Jackson South has a Level II trauma center), Baptist Hospital of Miami (Baptist Health South Florida; 948 beds) and UHealth Tower (University of Miami Health System; 24-hour emergency services, 1400 NW 12th Ave).

Where will I go for blood work if I live in Miami?

Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp both operate patient service centers across Miami-Dade; Community Health of South Florida (CHI) lists laboratory services at its centers, and Jackson, Baptist Health and UHealth have outpatient labs. We send the order electronically to a location that is convenient for you or in your insurance network. Results come back to us for review with you.

Which Miami hospitals have an emergency department?

Jackson Memorial Hospital (Jackson Health System; busiest ED in Miami-Dade, comprehensive stroke center; Jackson South has a Level II trauma center), Baptist Hospital of Miami (Baptist Health South Florida; 948 beds) and UHealth Tower (University of Miami Health System; 24-hour emergency services, 1400 NW 12th Ave). For chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, a major injury or thoughts of harming yourself, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than booking a video visit.

Are there community health centers in Miami for in-person care?

Jessie Trice Community Health System (16 facilities incl. 8 comprehensive primary care centers; serving Miami since 1967), Community Health of South Florida, Inc. (CHI; 13 centers in Miami-Dade and Monroe incl. South Miami, Coconut Grove, West Kendall, Naranja, Doris Ison, main site 10300 SW 216th St) and Borinquen Health Care Center, Inc. (main site 3601 Federal Hwy; Wynwood and North Miami sites) serve the area with in-person primary care on a sliding scale. Many patients pair that kind of local clinic with telehealth for follow-ups, medication management and specialist coordination.

Florida Medicaid plans are not on the participating list right now. Plans accepted in Florida: BCBS / Anthem PPO, UnitedHealthcare PPO, UMR (PPO), Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, Humana PPO, Ambetter PPO, Florida Blue, TRICARE. Benefits are verified before your visit, and self-pay pricing is posted if your plan is not accepted.

Can orders be sent to a laboratory or imaging facility near me?

When clinically appropriate, we can send orders to a laboratory or imaging facility you choose. Confirm that the location performs the requested test, accepts the order and participates in your insurance network. Availability and travel distance vary by community.

Good to know

Services, screening recommendations, testing, treatment options, referrals and prescribing may vary with your age, medical history, symptoms, where you are physically located at the time of the visit, state and federal requirements, insurance requirements, and whether your condition can be safely managed by telehealth. Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.

Getting care in Miami

Dense, international city where 56.9% of residents are foreign-born; anchored by the Miami Health District and one of the nation’s largest public hospital systems.

In Miami, a video visit means you do not have to cross the county on I-95 or the Palmetto for a routine appointment. Charles Wade, FNP-BC, handles primary care, mental health, ADHD, weight management, dermatology questions and minor urgent needs by video, then routes labs, imaging and prescriptions to places near your home in Little Havana, Kendall, Hialeah or Miami Beach. Miami has heavyweight hospitals, including Jackson Memorial, Baptist Hospital of Miami and UHealth Tower, and those remain the right place for emergencies and complex procedures. Telehealth fills the gap for everything in between, especially if your schedule, transportation or language needs make in-person clinics hard to use consistently.

Access in Miami-Dade County

Florida’s uninsured rate for people under 65 was 13.6% in 2024 versus 9.8% nationally (KFF, ACS 1-year); all-ages uninsured was 10.9%, ranking 45th among states (America’s Health Rankings, ACS 2024). As of January 1, 2026, Florida had 320 primary care HPSAs and 239 mental health HPSAs, and would need 1,434 more primary care practitioners and 545 more mental health practitioners to eliminate them (Florida Senate analysis of SB 1480, 2026). Hurricane season continuity: during qualifying emergencies, ask your pharmacist and insurer about early refills under Florida law; authorized refills and other coverage requirements still apply.

Who this helps most in Miami

This helps Miami residents who need steady, bilingual-friendly care for blood pressure, diabetes, anxiety or depression, ADHD, sleep or weight, and who have struggled to keep in-person appointments across a congested county. It also suits people between insurance plans who want a clear price and a clinician who will coordinate with an FQHC like Jessie Trice or CHI when needed. Go in person for physical exams, injuries, wound care or anything needing a procedure.

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department, such as Jackson Memorial, Baptist Hospital of Miami or UHealth Tower, for chest pain, stroke signs, severe shortness of breath, high fever in an infant or a mental health crisis with risk of harm.

Local health considerations

  • 56.9% of Miami residents are foreign-born (ACS 2024), if you prefer to discuss your care in another language, ask the healthcare provider about qualified interpreter services before your visit; many FQHCs here offer Spanish and Creole services.
  • Heat: NWS lists older adults, young children, pregnant women and people with chronic conditions or on certain medications as highest risk; Miami’s long hot season makes hydration and medication review important.
  • Hurricane season: ask your pharmacist and insurer about early refills under F.S. 252.358 during a qualifying emergency. Authorized refills and other coverage requirements still apply; plan ahead when possible.
