Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.

Getting care in North Las Vegas

A fast-growing, working-class city on the north side of the Las Vegas Valley with an industrial and warehouse base and ties to Nellis Air Force Base.

North Las Vegas has one community hospital inside the city limits, and much of the primary care here runs through sliding-fee clinics along Martin Luther King Boulevard that stay busy. If you are waiting weeks for a new-patient slot, or you have no regular doctor at all, a video visit with Wade’s Care First is a practical way to get started on blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, ADHD, depression or anxiety treatment, or to get a prescription reviewed and refilled.

Visits happen on your phone or computer from home, and evening availability helps if you work a warehouse or casino shift. The practice has no North Las Vegas office. Blood work, imaging and prescriptions are sent to locations in or near the city.

Access in Clark County

North Las Vegas is a Clark County community with several health centers along the Martin L. King Blvd. corridor, a marker of low-income shortage designation. The Nevada Primary Care Office attributes urban shortage designations largely to poverty and providers not accepting Medicaid, and parts of Clark County have mental health shortage designations. Nevada’s 2025 UNR Med physician workforce report finds the state would need 2,303 more physicians to reach the national per-capita average, including 251 family medicine doctors, 411 pediatricians and 105 psychiatrists; in 35 of 37 AMA specialty areas Nevada is below the national rate, and psychiatrists number 8.7 per 100,000 versus 12.2 nationally.

UNR Med reporting has placed Nevada 45th among states for active physicians and 48th for primary care physicians per capita. About 64.9 percent of Nevadans live in a federally designated primary care HPSA and 91.3 percent live in a mental health HPSA (15 of 17 counties are single-county mental health HPSAs). The state Primary Care Office notes all 17 counties carry some shortage designation; in cities a key driver is that many providers do not accept Medicaid, and in rural and frontier areas travel time to a provider can be several hours. Nevada’s uninsured rate was 11.4 percent in 2024 (47th of 50 states; US 8.2 percent).

Who this helps most in North Las Vegas

Telehealth helps North Las Vegas residents who cannot take a half day off to sit in a waiting room: warehouse, construction and hospitality workers, parents of school-age children, veterans who want a civilian option between VA visits, and adults who have gone years without a checkup. If you are uninsured, pricing is shared before you book. It is not a substitute for emergency care. Chest pain, stroke symptoms, trouble breathing, serious injury, a very high fever in a child, or thoughts of harming yourself need in-person help: call 911 or go to North Vista Hospital, the ER at Valley Vista, Centennial Hills or UMC. For ongoing in-person primary care on a sliding fee, FirstMed, Hope Christian Health Center and Nevada Health Centers all have North Las Vegas sites.

Local health considerations

  • Extreme heat with fewer shade and cooling resources in older neighborhoods: NWS Las Vegas HeatRisk forecasts and the Southern Nevada Health District’s heat-illness surveillance apply; outdoor, warehouse and construction workers face added risk.
  • Shift and warehouse work: the metro’s 24-hour hospitality economy (about 25.5 percent of jobs) plus the city’s logistics and industrial employers mean many residents work nights; NIOSH links short sleep from long or irregular hours to obesity and chronic disease.
  • Coverage and cost barriers: Nevada’s 11.4 percent uninsured rate (2024) is 47th nationally, and the concentration of sliding-fee clinics in North Las Vegas reflects local need.
